That’s a creepy coincidence, Simon.. 25 years ago today, the best band of all time came to a premature end as Ian Curtis (the lead singer pictured), hanged himself in his home in Manchester. The band is Joy division, and those lyrics are from ‘Komakino’.
The surviving members went on to form New order, which, although a very good group, still falls slightly short of the cold brilliance of Joy division. If you’ve never heard them before, now’s a good a time as any to start..

…and on that same day, Mt St Helens erupted, killing 57 people and blackening the skies of the NW in mourning. A coincidence?
