‘Shouting etc etc’, condensed
typed for your pleasure on 24 July 2008, at 11.37 amSdtrk: ‘Prove it all night’ by US girls
Does your crazy on-the-go lifestyle prevent you from reading ‘Shouting etc etc’? Well, thanks to Wordle, now it’s available in capsule form (prescription required):
full size is here; opens in a new window
Wouldn’t this have been lovely to display on the fourth anniversary post? Probably. *facepalms*
Upon viewing the finished product, it’s occurred to me that I missed out a couple of words, such as ‘Eighties’ and ‘Anglophilia’. And ‘lovely’. And ‘fuck’, as that one gets quite a bit of usage round here

It’s okay, we forgive you.
Better luck next year?

If you are doing it for you and not for others, then the frequency and even the quality isn’t as important as the significance.
I think this post fails that test too, unfortunately.
I ran one of those word swarm thingies against http://www.safetinspector.com and it was depressingly heavy with So You Think You Can Dance references. *sigh* I’m turning into a bore.
At least your words were entertaining!

Laura –
Next year, then! Remind me! Write it on a sticky note, pop that on your monitor, and leave it there for 356 days.

You know my thoughts about writing this blog already; paraphrasing what Ian Curtis once said, I do it for myself, but I hope other people will still like it…
And like you, at first, I just typed in the URL for ‘Shouting etc etc’ into Wordle, and the results were dull, so I just fed all the words you see in the final product into that first box, and came up with the travesty that you see before you! Better results were had by far.
I should’ve used underscores to unite some of the words, though, like ‘Hans_Bellmer’, so that they weren’t scattered across the board. Next year!

I’ll seed the cloud next time.
Remember that garden thing Snapperfish turned us onto once upon a time? Made pretty colors based on graphical content, if I remember correctly….

I have vague, fuzzy memories of that word/colour thing. Man, it’s been years since veach left the scene. 😐

I didn’t think the pure and concentrated GAR of Gurren-Lagann was up your alley/side-street/service drive! Well done! Kamina would be proud!
Give Wordle a go! I think it would probably spit out an interesting array based on Alastor’s Reflection’s content. And go watch Xam’d: Lost memories! It’s fine and dandy. 🙂

Oh yes, I did at least give Gurren Lagann a go, at least up through epside 8 where I was driven to shedding many manly tears 🙁 Since life is not conducive to lazing back and watching anime for the time being (until I resolve my current predicament) I’ve had to put everything on hold, but will resume GL at some future date.
But you’re right; the mecha/robotic animes don’t float my boat, generally speaking. Especially the Nice Boat :-/ But I don’t like to generalize or genre-alize either, so will give any anime a chance, or at least half-a-one 🙂
GAR is the polar opposite of moe and is just as worthy; I just prefer appreciating the girls. ‘Cos they’re soft and stuff 🙂
And OMG that is a cute little figure! With her own little Gurren as well! And again whoa, that trailer looked awesome :-O But it’s for Playstation-playing, right? I am console-less; you might say dis-consolate, even… someday when I have leisure-time once more 🙂

As far as I’m concerned, Gurren-Lagann is GAINAX getting back to Quality. As opposed to that ‘He is my Master’ show. No-one could explain that.
Ahh, to be independently wealthy, in order to be independently lazy… but I wouldn’t call catching up on whole television series being lazy. That takes up quite a lot of hours in one’s day!
I think that lass in the linked pic is supposed to be Saber! Yeah, blonde with an ahoge; that certainly narrows it down. 😀
‘Xam’d: Lost memories’ is originally aired on the PS3 InterNetwork System-o-Tron, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t… other ways… to view it. I think you catch my meaning. Hell, that’s how I’m viewing it! I’m only getting a PS3 when they drop that lunatic price!
And heh heh, ‘Nice boat’! A week later, stabbing.

Holy Excalibur, you’re right :O That IS Saber! Green eyes little blue bow gathering her hair in the back, yup yup 😀
Now, looking at that pic, HOW can people suggest that she’s more GAR than moe?
Well, okay, she IS pretty bad-ass but so are many of the moe-girls in the Saimoe competitions. Hm… it MAY have something to do with her REAL SECRET identity. Anyway, Nice Pic 🙂
Speaking of (kinda) I guess you already know that Higurashi no Naku Koro ni episode 12 and the last episode of School Days were preempted/delayed and both (I think) were replaced with the clip of boats. Why? uh… pass LOL
BTW… Higurashi = awsomeness in a head-rotating way (see The Excorcist) while School Days looked promising (but with a loathsome lead) up until its last bloody episode, ugh. Two ways to depict horror and violence; one worked miraculously, the other… not so much :-/
Really, Higurashi’s intricate, entangled story structure is unique, jigsaw-puzzle like, and so well-plotted given its complexity. Over the course of both seasons it miserly handed out the pieces as if telling you “look, it’s for your own good.”
And, it was; and it was good. But some episodes were awfully tough to take :-O
Some (squeamish) folk would rather be sailing, I’m sure 😛

Now I dinnae know that ‘Higurashi’ etc etc was also delayed! To be honest, I know nothing about that show. It can be argued, really, that I wouldn’t have known anything about ‘School days’ either, if it weren’t for the whole ‘Nice Boat’ meme…
I did mange to find an interesting article here about that particular phenomenon. Careful with those bladed instruments, Japanese girls!
